The Heart of Psychotherapy: Integrating Spirituality and Clinical Practice with Alan Strachan

Alan Strachan has been exploring the interface between spirituality and psychology for over 30 years, both personally and professionally. , and has maintained a meditation practice for 25 years. With his wife, Janet, he is the co-founder of the Temenos Fellowship of the AIWP (the Association for the Integration of the Whole Person), a non-profit organization that has offered support groups, as well as individual and couple’s counseling, for people on the spiritual path. He was the staff psychotherapist at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) for 9 years and has been in private practice since 1985. The title of today’s talk is “The Heart of Psychotherapy: Integrating Spirituality and Clinical Practice.” This lecture was delivered in 2004 at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. It is presented here as part of our ongoing series on transpersonal psychology in clinical practice.
